A new post published yesterday on the Bing Search Blog indicated that seven new categories are going to be released on the Bing Autosuggest application - a functionality in which Bing provides you with a list of predictions as to what you might be searching for based on the text you have entered so far.

People Autosuggest shows you information snapshots about anyone with a public LinkedIn profile that you might be searching for. The addition of seven new categories will make Bing Autosuggest far more robust and useful.

Bing Adds Image Search Filter for Usage Rights

If you're populating your website or blog with images, it's a good idea to first make sure you're doing so legally. Just because you find an image on the web through a Google, Bing or Yahoo image search doesn't mean that that image is free for you to use.

Many of the images you find through an image search are not protected by copyrights, and actually can be used freely. Up until now, however, there hasn't been an easy way to identify which images are protected and which are free to use. Bing is looking to change that with its new feature, "Search by License."

Mobile Device Searches Up 20%+ in 2012

A recent study, conducted in 2012, of 3,000 adults in the United States found that more and more individuals are using their mobile device to search the internet. More specifically, the results of the study concluded that tablet searches increased by 19% while and searches on smartphones increased by 26%.

The study, reported by Search Engine Land, was the sixth annual iteration of a joint collaboration between comScore Local Search, 15miles and Localeze. All of the individuals surveyed in the study said that they search online for local businesses.
