Spreading the Virus on Your Blog
There is really only one place where the thought of spreading a virus is a pleasant one – with Internet marketing. Viral blog posts are the bread and butter of growing blogs and web sites. You want to create posts that catch the eye of the reader and generate buzz – maybe because they are worth passing on.
If you have sat staring at your computer screen trying to come up with unique blog posts that would go viral, you are not alone. If you have written dozens of blog posts that you were sure would go viral but only stagnated on your WordPress archive, you are far from alone.
Generating viral blog posts takes time, patience and dedication. However, when you finally get one rolling, the results can be unbelievable. A single viral post can turn your blog from a placeholder to a successful authority web space.
Tips for Spreading the Virus of Viral Content Through Your Blog
If you are struggling for viral post ideas, you have come to the right place. Remember, however, that few of these ideas will work without proper exposure and distribution (more on that later). Be creative with your post titles and think about what you would waste your time reading. Have fun with your posts and stay casual while providing solid information.
1. Niche Post Directories
Web visitors eat these types of posts up like crazy. Assemble a collection of around 50 links to related sites in your niche and put them in a post as links. Pretty simple stuff. These are the types of pages that people put in their favorites to act as references. You can even mix some of your own posts in there for good measure.
2. Apply a Notable Figure to Your Industry
Have you ever wondered how Napoleon would perform landscaping? How would Michael Jackson run an online SEO company? These kinds of posts can be great, eye catching titles and are fun to write and read. Be creative and think about how you can use some well known personality traits to apply to an unrelated niche – while providing some decent information.
3. Write Some Reviews
Pick some well known products or programs in your industry and write up some detailed, keyword rich reviews. People love to read the opinions of others – especially when they’re about products and programs that they frequently use or are considering using. Keep the text clean and tight and don’t use huge blocks of content, however.
4. Combine Interviews
Try asking some people in your niche the same exact questions and post their answers in an interview format right next to each other. Being able to see answers to the same questions by two different people can be a great way for readers to really understand a topic – and they know that. You can get really creative with this one and ask questions that would apply differently to two different niches but will relate in some way.
