3 reasons your site traffic is far lower than you want
Without site traffic, even the best website in the world won’t create any conversions. You could have incredible products at a great price point, but they’re not going to sell if no one knows that they exist. Many businesses in the modern era don’t even have much of a physical presence, if any. They rely entirely on web traffic. You can set up an excellent company and build a terrific-looking website, but you may still not see the results that you want. Why not?
The truth is that there could be a multitude of different reasons. Every situation is unique. To help you get started, however, let’s look at three of the main reasons that websites fail to achieve the traffic that their owners want.
You’re targeting the wrong keywords
One problem is that you may be targeting keywords that don’t really work. One example of this is if your keywords may be popular, but they don’t actually connect with the content on your site or the products that you’re selling. This can lead to a high bounce rate.
But it can also be an issue if you’re simply targeting generic keywords or those that are incredibly competitive. Remember that all major corporations have websites these days. They put significant money into making sure that they rank at the top. If you have generic keywords, you’re simply never going to get any traction because there’s too much competition. You need to find specific keywords that are linked to your brand, your geographical location or other factors about your niche audience.
You’re not actively doing SEO
It is important to do SEO to ensure that your site is optimized and has keywords that your audience is going to use. Essentially, Google can provide you with free traffic based on what consumers are looking for.
But you need to be active during this process. If you did SEO work two years ago and then forgot about it, your site is going to lose relevance very quickly. Google prioritizes sites with fresh content that is posted consistently. As such, the best sites utilize ongoing SEO tactics.
The site has a slow load time
Finally, you do need to consider the technical capabilities of your website. Remember that consumers have very little patience. If the site takes more than a few seconds to load, they’re going to leave.
Again, this just comes back to competition. If you’re still trying to get exposure and consumers aren’t directly looking for your company, you’re competing with everyone else who’s doing the same thing. Consumers are not going to wait for a site to load if it’s an unknown. They’re just going to pick the competition. This is why site design is so incredibly important.
