Tips for writing effective marketing emails
When it comes to marketing emails, your first goal is to increase your open rate, or the percentage of people who actually open the email and read it. Many emails automatically get sent to spam, while other users will manually delete them. A higher open rate gives you vastly better chances of making a sale.
And that’s the second part of the process: Using your email to increase your conversion rate. This starts by funneling traffic to your website, where you can make the sale.
But you may have been writing marketing emails and not getting the results you were hoping for. What can you change so that these emails are more effective when you send them to your audience? Here are a few tips from our experienced team at Content Customs.
Use action language in the subject line
When writing subject lines, try to use verbs and engaging language. For instance, perhaps you are writing marketing emails for a car insurance company. A subject line like “We can help you save money on your car insurance in 2024” could work, but it may be more effective to write “Learn how you can save big on your car insurance costs today.”
Create a sense of urgency
At the end of that subject line, note the use of the word “today.” The call to action implies that the reader should do so quickly. You can also create this sense of urgency by stating that it’s a limited-time offer or something of this nature. People get numerous emails every day and have to decide which ones to engage with and which ones to ignore. A sense of urgency can make them choose yours.
Make it easy to read on a mobile device
When writing the email, focus on clarity and making it easy to read. This often means using short sentences. You can also break your content up with paragraph breaks, bulleted lists and white space. Some will even put a line break in between every paragraph.
The thing to remember here is that many people are going to read these emails on a phone screen. The email needs to specifically be optimized for a mobile device and shorter content is easier for people to read – both on a small screen and when they are on the go.
These are just three tips that may be beneficial moving forward. If you’d like to learn more about how you can get the most out of your marketing emails, contact us today at Content Customs.
