They’ll look at products in other states or even other countries. They’re just comparing options, reading statistics, considering user reviews, and trying to determine what type of product they want to buy.
Moreover, someone on a desktop may be considering ordering the product and having it shipped to their house. Making an in-store purchase hasn’t crossed their mind.
However, when someone is searching on their mobile phone, the phone may automatically use location services to show them products that are close to them. They will see local deals and sales or inventory reports showing where these products are in stock. Because of this convenience, the mobile device is more likely to push them toward an in-store purchase.
On top of that, people sometimes conduct these searches while they’re already out and about. For instance, someone may physically be standing in a mall, trying to determine what to purchase, and they’ll look up products on their phone to learn more. Because of the ease and convenience of being able to run the search on the go, they end up doing their research while they’re already in close proximity to retailers that are selling the product they want. Once they’ve made a decision, there are no more hurdles to overcome before making the purchase.
